How the trading company is used

Two situations account for most of it. In the first, a buyer wants goods from several suppliers in several countries and does not want to run the procurement, the payments and the freight separately — so we buy, consolidate and deliver against a single order. In the second, a party to the transaction does not want the other side to see who the actual supplier is, and the trade has to be structured accordingly.

Both are ordinary commercial arrangements. What makes them work is that the same company handling the purchase also controls the freight, the documentation and the bills of lading, so nothing has to be reconciled between three parties after the fact.
